For the $$$ FI wins hands down. No way the same $$ will get you that much power from N/A. In my experience with Miatas, I can tell you beyond a doubt that F/I is the best way to go for power. I've spoken at lenght with racers who must go n/a and they have told me that their tired, old s/c 1.6 Miatas run as strong and as fast as a freshly tuned, all out n/a racing motor, and they are streetable too! that is definitely not the case with the racing engines.
I'm not saying that a N/A motor cannot be made to run extremely fast and quick. That is definitely possible. What I'm saying is that for the money and simplicity you cannot beat F/I, and frankly, ultimately there is no way an N/A motor will beat a tricked blown engine, no way in h*ll.

Nicely put Lund... I feel the very same way !!! Well, I will qualify this and say that if my new car was not FI from the very beginning, I would have a blower on it in a matter of DAYS !!!

Was this guy you were talking with a V8 jughead? Because we're thinking in terms of 4-cyl small displacement motors. No argument that FI is hands down best in those apps. But when you're dealing with lots of cubic inches and 8 or more cyl, then I don't see a distinct advantage either way.

redline: whaz UP!--mo' shitz talk'n bout who can beat down on who???--N/A vs. FI...better check yo wallet sucka...thats whatz gonna determine which way yo azz is gonna go.--believe that. cuz foos going N/A, LS/VTEC=frankie bullshitz, hybrid swaps all equals phat dollars ta tune and there aint NO road ta riches pwr. if ya don't buy ALL the f--k'n necessary parts (I/H/E, upgraded valve train, headswaps, built bottom end, intake/exhaust manifold swaps, vtec controllers, and all important dyno time) ta make the whole shitz works together...its aint jus one damn part thats gonna break yo dumbazz into the 12's or whatever sillyshitz ya measure'n speed by. going N/A da thang starts becoming a f--k'n moneypit cuz most ba-itches aint doin they own engine work so they jus having they mommy foot'n they bills ta a monkey mechanic to build they little ol'ba-itch ride. now as for FI, yeah, its cheaper but, at a cost of other shitz like det. prevent, accessories (gauges, etc...), intercoolers, plus all this FI shitz is gonna put extra wearz on yo f--k'n internal engine components, drivetrain, and tranny.--believe it or NOT! so if ya look'n for madd HP...think before ya ACT or else ya gonna go broke azz and still going nowhere! these import 4s are a ba-itch and half and hella exp. to extract pwr from...get'n something wid mo' pwr outty the box is always a better, smarter, and cheaper ta get where yo azz wants to go. don't knock da V8s til ya tried it cuz there's NO replacement for displacement. or else jus drive da ba-itch and enjoy--don't believe da hype!
peace.
